MLS CAREER

2017

  • Joined USL affiliate Charlotte Independence on loan, which was confirmed on March 27.
  • Returned for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup fourth round game against Oklahoma City Energy FC (6/13), in which he tallied an assist and scored the game-winning goal - his first for the Rapids.
  • Made only his second-ever start in MLS in the 1-0 loss at Atlanta United FC (6/24). It came just over a year on from his previous start, in a 0-0 tie at LA Galaxy (6/22/16).
  • The match at Atlanta was Castillo's first of three starts in a row heading into the CONCACAF Gold Cup break.
  • His last start (7/4) was also his last appearance of the season for the Rapids, though he did make the 18 for the following two games. He returned to Charlotte for the remainder of the season, where he would make a total of 11 appearances, while scoring two goals. Both goals came in the same game, against Tampa Bay Rowdies in early June, and earned him a place in the USL Team of the Week.
  • Missed all of May while with the Independence due to a knee injury.
  • Finished the year with career-high starts in MLS (3), in his second season.

2016

  • Signed to a MLS contract on April 22.
  • He made his MLS debut a day after signing a contract, replacing Eric Miller in the 60th minute of the home game with Seattle Sounders FC (April 23). In that game he provided the cross for Kevin Doyle's first goal of the season.
  • Castillo made his first start in MLS on June 22 in the 0-0 draw at LA Galaxy, playing the full 90 minutes.
  • His next appearance in MLS was not until October 8, when he played the final two minutes of the 3-2 win at Houston Dynamo.
  • Castillo's final appearance of the 2016 regular season came in the last minute of the 2-1 home win over San Jose Earthquakes (10/13).
