Beaches and off-pitch bonding in LA

Written by Special Olympics partner, Rachel Herndon

My teammates and I just got back from an exciting trip to Los Angeles where we played a match against the LA Galaxy’s Unified team. We had some other fun adventures such as exploring two different piers and Santa Monica beach, taking a trip to In-N-Out, and swimming back at our hotel.

Spending time with my teammates on this trip made me feel more connected. My personal favorite was spending time at the beach, since we don’t have one here in Colorado.

Although we came up short in the game, it was an awesome experience and super fun to play in another city on a different field, while we continued to perfect our teamwork and show others the skills we have been working hard on all summer. We showed improvement and never gave up. We went out, gave it our all and that was so fun to see.

While we didn't get a win, the team came back from Los Angeles with many memories that we will never forget.
