Doyle goal vs. Seongnam

Match Report (preseason friendly): Colorado Rapids 4-2 Seongnam FC

A second-half hat-trick from Kevin Doyle saw Colorado Rapids cruise past Seongnam FC 4-2 in their opening preseason scrimmage of 2016 at the Olympic Training Center at Chula Vista in California.

The South Korean side, who finished fifth in the highly-respected K-League last season, took the lead in the opening stages by bundling home from a corner.

However, Rapids were level midway through the half when trialist Yann Ekra blasted a drive into the top corner of the net from distance.

The goal helped Pablo Mastroeni’s men take control, and Jared Watts nearly put them ahead just before half-time. In addition, Sam Cronin was denied at the far post.

Head coach Mastroeni changed his entire XI at the break and Rapids would quickly assume an unassailable lead.

Just two minutes into the second half, Doyle guided home a header from a right-wing cross then, shortly afterwards, nodded in following a corner from Marc Burch.

Seongnam reduced the arrears midway through the half, however Doyle stabbed home his third just before the final whistle.
