GAME INFORMATION

Colorado Rapids vs Sporting Kansas City
Sunday, March 17 - 7:00 PM | TICKETS
DICK'S Sporting Goods Park - Commerce City, Co.

With the impending Bomb Cyclone that hit the Denver Metro area Wednesday, the Rapids elected to continue their training sessions at the Denver Broncos facility in Dove Valley for the second consecutive week.

"It's a very good second option considering the conditions have been the way that they have," said head coach Anthony Hudson. "We've found a little home away from home and it's really helped us in this period."

The indoor facility provided the grounds to prepare for Sunday's matchup against Western Conference rival, Sporting Kansas City, a notoriously possession-heavy team. Hudson and his staff hope to lean on their three former SKC players, Diego Rubio, Benny Feilhaber and Kei Kamara for extra insight into the ways of Peter Vermes and his SKC side.

It's no surprise that the familiarity between the teams provides some extra motivation for the former players. Feilhaber, who won an MLS Cup with SKC in 2013, shared with the media that he's engaged in a text message exchange with his former teammates and is eager to grab a first win over his former club.

"If I could hand pick the games I wanted to win this year this would definitely be one of them," Feilhaber said.

Hudson, Feilhaber and Rubio spoke to media following following Thursday's session sharing insights on the history, tactics and mindset ahead of Sunday's meeting.

WHAT THEY SAID

Head Coach Anthony Hudson

"They’re one of the really tough teams in the country. They’ve got a clear style of play, a clear identity, strong in every position and they have good depth. I think we have a good idea of how they play and what they’re going to do so we’re going into the game with our eyes wide open."

Midfielder Benny Feilhaber

"It means a lot to be able to play against those guys that I’ve had a lot of success with in the past and to try and beat them. Last year with LA I lost twice to Kansas City, so hopefully we can reverse the trend and we can get the best out of them this year."

Forward Diego Rubio

"We need to take care of us and do what we need to do, I think we can get a result and our first win."
