Monday marked a historic night at DICK'S Sporting Good Parks as the Colorado Rapids faced of with Arsenal of the English Premier League for the first time in club history.
Arsenal started off the scoring in the 13th minute as 17-year-old Bukayo Sako raced in behind the back line and clipped a shot past Clint Irwin who was able to get a hand on the effort. Unai Emery's side would double the lead in the 29th minute after 18-year-old James Olayinka intercepted a Seb Anderson pass and buried a beautiful right-footed strike from just on the edge of the box.
In the second half, Gabriel Martinelli would score in his debut for the London Club as he deflected home a driven cross with his shoulder in the 61st minute.
The sellout crowd roared when the trio of Mesut Özil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyeng and Alexandre Lacazette subbed on together in the 78th minute.
The Rapids would generate two quality looks on goal late in the second half through a quality build up as well as a Kellyn Acosta free kick, but the home side was unable to find the net on the night.
