Homegrown Sebastian Anderson, US set for FIFA U-17 World Cup -

In conjunction with US Soccer, the Colorado Rapids Soccer Club announced today that defender Sebastian Anderson has been named to the United States U-17 roster for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.

The tournament will run from October 26 to November 17. Anderson and the US are set to face Japan, the Netherlands and Senegal in Group D with their first match against Senegal on October 27 in Cariacica, Brazil.

Anderson, a Highlands Ranch native, became the youngest player to sign with the Rapids when he inked his Homegrown contract on April 3. Later that month, Anderson became the youngest Rapids player to make his MLS debut at 16 years and 262 days old against Atlanta United FC. Overall, the defender made six appearances with the Rapids this season and scored his first professional goal on July 20 against New York City FC.

On the international stage, Anderson has earned past call-ups with the U-15s and U-17s. Most recently, he featured in two matches during the 4 Nations Tournament in September where the US finished second overall. Anderson also joins fellow Rapids Homegrown player Dillon Serna, who played in the 2011 U-17 World Cup on a side that featured current Colorado teammate Kellyn Acosta.
