The Colorado Rapids have loaned forward Matt Hundley to USL Championship side Memphis 901 FC for the 2020 season, the club announced today. Under the terms of the loan agreement, the Rapids retain the right to recall Hundley at any point during the remainder of the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.

“Matt is a player who we believe has great potential and this loan is a wonderful opportunity for him to get playing time in a competitive league and continue his development in a challenging and demanding environment,” said Pádraig Smith, Colorado Rapids EVP & General Manager. “We look forward to seeing him succeed in Memphis.”

“Matty is a player that I had the chance to be around last season with the Colorado Rapids,” said Tim Howard, Memphis 901 FC Sporting Director. “His pedigree as a dynamic forward player has us extremely excited to add him to our group.”

Hundley signed a four-year Homegrown contract with the Rapids in 2019 and spent the season with the Rapids’ USL affiliate, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, making 29 appearances and registering a goal.

A native of Littleton, Colorado, Hundley previously featured for the Rapids’ U-18/19 Development Academy team. He has also been a part of the U-17 and U-19 U.S. national teams.
