Not only did Diego Rubio open his 2020 account in the Rapids 5-0 win over RSL on Saturday, he also set a Rocky Mountain Cup records scoring the fastest goal (2:21) and became the first Rapids player to score twice against RSL.
Rapids Youth on Display
The youngest members of the club have played a key part in the team's success throughout the season, and Saturday's game against RSL was no exception. Three goals and two assists in the landslide win at Rio Tinto Stadium came from Rapids players 22 year of age and under; Cole Bassett (one goal, one assist), Sam Vines (one goal) among them. The contributions from the two Colorado natives marked the fifth consecutive match a Homegrown player has directly impacted the scoreline via a goal or an assist.
Cole Bassett also lead the team in overall points (two goals and three assists).
