This season, the Rapids have a number players who will be sporting new digits on the back of their jerseys. Among the most notable are Kellyn Acosta, changing from number 10 to 23, and Nicolas Benezet, from nine to 10.
Two new additions who will look to debut their numbers in burgundy are Michael Barrios, acquired in a trade with FC Dallas, who will wear 12, and Philip Mayaka, the Rapids' third-overall pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft, who will wear 14. The club also signed Homegrowns Oliver Larraz, who will wear number 30, and Darren Yapi, number 77, Michael Edwards, number 34, and Yaya Toure, number 37. In addition, William Yarbrough has changed from 50 to 22, Abraham Rodriguez from 30 to 27 and Sebastian Anderson from 27 to 28.
The Rapids depart for preseason in Tucson, Ariz. on March 8, and the MLS regular season is scheduled to begin on April 17.
