Player Welfare Officer

As Player Welfare Officer for the Colorado Rapids, Brian Reed will lead initiatives to support the wellbeing and personal development of Rapids Academy players, including enhancing procedures to ensure player safety and compliance with SafeSport guidelines, managing educational programming and life skills sessions, and overseeing the homestay program for Academy players, among other support services. Reed will also provide logistical and onboarding support for First Team players.

Reed joins the Rapids staff after serving in multiple director and coaching positions across youth, collegiate and professional teams around the country. Most recently, Reed served as the U17 Pre-Professional Head Coach, Director of Academics and College Placement Coordinator for the Houston Dynamo FC. Throughout his career, Reed has gained valuable insight into the development and success of players both on and off the pitch.

Reed holds a “B” coaching license. An alum of California Polytechnic State University, Reed earned First Team and Team Captain awards as a Mustang and later joined the coaching staff to help lead the team to its first Division I playoff victory.
