The Rolling Rapids Power Soccer team is the first full-time power soccer program in Colorado. The team is made possible by the Freedom Power Soccer Foundation, which helps alleviate costs for families making the program free to participate. The team competes in the United States Power Soccer Association (USPSA), which features four different leagues and operates a promotion/relegation model. Rolling Rapids started in the Founders League in 2024 and has now received back-to-back promotions and now compete in the Champions League. Participants include persons with quadriplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, head trauma, stroke, spinal cord injury, and other disabilities. Power soccer combines the skill of the wheelchair user with the speed and power of the chair itself to create a challenging and entertaining game. The game is played in a gymnasium on a regulation basketball court. Two teams of four power wheelchair users attack, defend and spin-kick a 13-inch soccer ball to score goals.Â
