Alphonso Davies may not be the only MLSer to take part in Bundesliga training sessions this winter.

San Jose Earthquakes fullback Nick Lima is in Germany to train with Hertha Berlin, according to ESPN FC's Jeff Carlisle. Additionally, Colorado Rapids teenage duo Cole Bassett and Sam Vines look set to train with Freiburg.

Lima, 23, was nearly ever-present for the Quakes this season, starting all 34 games and playing 3,049 of a possible 3,060 minutes. The second-year pro was called into last year's US men's national team January camp, but didn't take the field in their friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bassett, 17, was signed to a Homegrown contract by the Rapids on August 10 and made his professional debut a month later when he subbed on against the Portland Timbers. On Decision Day presented by AT&T, the midfielder scored his first professional goal.

Vines, 19, has been capped by the US youth national teams at various levels and was named to National Development Academy Best XI as one of the top young players in the country in 2017. The defender made his MLS debut on October 21 after spending much of the season with the Charlotte Independence in USL on loan.

“Sam Vines and Cole Bassett are in Germany training with Freiburg for 10 days as part of their offseason player development plan. We are happy that they get to have this opportunity, as they continue to grow as professional footballers,” said a Rapids‘ media spokesperson.
