Preview | Rapids look to extend home win streak in CF Montréal contest

The Colorado Rapids (10-12-2, 32 pts., 7th West) return home following a short stint on the road to host CF Montréal (5-13-6, 21 pts., 15th East) on Saturday, September 12. Kickoff at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park is set for 7:30 p.m. MT, with coverage available on Apple TV, Altitude Sports Radio, ColoradoRapids.com, and the Colorado Rapids app. 

Colorado have their eyes on returning to their top form that they have showcased all season at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park. The Rapids are riding a five-match win streak at home, with all five matches being clean sheets. Colorado’s five consecutive shutouts mark a tie for the club record that was set back in 2004. Over the course of the year, the club has posted an 11-2-0 record at DSGP so far across all competitions. Over those 13 matches, Colorado has posted eight clean sheets.  

The Rapids are back home following a short two-match roadstand, with the club traveling to face Austin FC midweek. Colorado held a one goal advantage for most of the match thanks to a highlight-reel volley from Designated Player Paxten Aaronson. His goal in the match marked his fifth of the season and brought his goal contribution total for the year to 11, which is a club high. Austin managed to tie the match in the final ten minutes, but the Rapids still came home with a hard-fought point on the road.  

Montréal will also look to get back in the win column following their most recent result, a 2-1 loss at home to Charlotte FC on Wednesday. The club has struggled as of late and are winless in their last five contests, with their last victory coming on August 18.  

These two interconference foes have faced off nine times in their history, with Colorado having the edge in the all-time season series. The Rapids boast a 6-2-1 record against Montréal with a 5-1-0 record at home. The last time these clubs matched up against each other was in June of 2024, when Colorado cruised to a 4-1 victory. In their last three matches against Montréal at DSGP, the Rapids are undefeated with a 3-0-0 record, outscoring the Canadian side 12-5 in those matches.
