Tale of the Tape: Saeid seeks to create chances in the attack and slow Laba

Tale of the Tape COLvVAN

The Colorado Rapids face Vancouver Whitecaps FC at home this Saturday (TICKETS), no doubt seeking to avenge the 1-0 loss back on May 5 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

When the teams last met, substitute Brek Shea shattered the Rapids with a late goal. The Rapids took 15 shots in that game, of which just one was on target.

Creating chances will be one of the responsibilities of midfielder Mohammed Saeid. He will then hope his attacking teammates are more clinical in front of goal. On the opposite side, Matías Laba is the Whitecaps' destroyer. His main role will be to halt any forward momentum from the home side.

Saeid is a cool customer, able to create openings for the forwards. Laba is a feisty, no-nonsense type of player, not afraid to get stuck in. A contrast in styles there may be, but whoever emerges on top in this individual tussle could determine the outcome of the contest.

What they say …

Considered one of the best holding midfielders in MLS. The Argentine is a fixture in Vancouver's lineup and his passing and ability to do the dirty work in the middle of the field makes him an invaluable member of his team.
