2017.09.18 ten things

By the numbers: here are 10 stats from the Colorado Rapids' 1-1 draw with New York City FC at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday night.

1. Not only did Dominique Badji net his eighth goal of the season on Saturday - which is two more than his previous career-high, set in 2016 - but he has now also played more than 2,000 minutes in a season for the first time.

2.Marlon Hairston made his 50th start in MLS. He played 75 minutes before being replaced by Alan Gordon. Hairston’s first start in MLS came at home to LA Galaxy on May 3, 2014.

3. Defender Eric Miller made his 25th appearance (all starts) on Saturday, during which he went beyond the 2,000-minute mark for a second successive season, and for the second time in his career. He now stands at a career-high 2,166 minutes for 2017.

4. In what has been an injury-plagued second season in MLS, Designated Player Shkëlzen Gashi edged over the 1,000-minute mark at the weekend. He entered the game as a 65th minute substitute for Mohammed Saeid.

5.Stefan Aigner came off the bench for a third game in a row, to make his debut at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. He replaced Joshua Gatt with 25 minutes remaining.

6. Thomas McNamara’s super strike, after 19 minutes, was the 1,000th regular season goal conceded by the Rapids in franchise history.

7. Trinidad and Tobago international Mekeil Williams has now started four of the last five games, having not started any of the previous five.

8.Kortne Ford, meanwhile, has also been in from the beginning in four of the last five. He had managed only one start in the previous eight.

9.Mohammed Saeid has been a regular for the Rapids, since joining from Minnesota United at the end of March. With time played for both teams combined, the midfielder has hit career-high minutes in MLS, passing the 2,016 achieved with Columbus Crew SC in 2016.

10. Saturday’s result extends the Rapids’ run to eight games without a shutout at home. Their last clean sheet at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park came in the 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City on May 27
