Match Preview: Rapids Look to Continue Dominance Over LA at Home Tonight!

COMMERCE CITY CO ( - After 3 matches on the road your Colorado Rapids finally return to Dick's Sporting Goods Park for their first home game in almost a month as they play host to the LA Galaxy Saturday night.

Kickoff is set for 7:30pm MT this Saturday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
Your Rapids will look to rebound from a close 1-0 loss to Houston on Sunday. Having their three game unbeaten streak snapped last weekend the Rapids are looking to collect themselves and keep the Galaxy winless on the season. This is the longest winless drought for Los Angeles to start a year since their 2003 season.
The Rapids and Galaxy meet on Saturday for the 52nd time (more than any other opponent in Rapids history) with the Rapids holding a 20-26-5 all-time record against the Galaxy in 14 years of competition.
In Colorado the Rapids hold a 15-7-3 all-time advantage and are 9-5-1 since the beginning of the 2005 season.
The Rapids are a perfect 3-0-0 at home vs. the Galaxy since the opening of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in 2007 and have not conceded a goal to Los Angeles at their new stadium outscoring the Galaxy 8-0 in those contests.
Your Rapids have faced off twice against the Galaxy already this month in one regular season match and one qualification match for the 2009 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. The Rapids took victories in both of those games played at the Home Depot Center and are poised to go a perfect 3-0-0 this month vs. LA.
The Rapids have begun the season playing four of their first five matches away from home. By contrast Saturday’s game will be the first outside the state of California this season for the Galaxy.
Something to watch for in the match: with his next appearance midfielder Terry Cooke will reach 100 career games played with the Rapids. Cooke’s career in Colorado began in 2005 and the Rapids are the only club he has played for in the U.S. Terry would join an exclusive list of only eight others players in the 14-year history of the club to reach the 100 games played plateau. Chris Henderson stands as the Rapids all-time leader in games played with 178.
Saturday night's game will be broadcast in Colorado on Altitude. Calling the game for Altitude will be Mike Haynes (play-by-play) Marcelo Balboa (color) and Peter Ruttgaizer (sidelines).
