Rapids Weekly Team Update

COMMERCE CITY CO (11/13/07) - The Colorado Rapids this week are continuing with their third week of the team's off-season training sessions in Colorado.
Each day this week from Monday-Friday the Rapids will be continuing their daily sessions of conditioning skills sessions and scrimmages on the club's official practice field at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
Today the team encountered a particularly blustery day out on the practice field as the extreme high winds made today's skills sessions difficult a marked change from the ideal weather the Rapids have experienced at their training sessions so far this off-season.
All post-season training sessions are closed to the public.

Rapids forward Conor Casey underwent successful surgery to repair a ruptured ACL in his right knee last week. He is expected to be out 6-9 months for recovery.
Just yesterday defender Facundo Erpen had abdominal surgery to repair a sports hernia. His recovery is expected to take 2-4 weeks.
Both players suffered their injuries during the 2007 season and played through them before now getting the chance to get them repaired.
Today's quotes come from Rapids Assistant Coach John Murphy with his take on the progress of the club's postseason training sessions now in their third week:
"I have to give full credit to the players they have been absolutely fantastic and professional. While there is a general attitude of disappointment that we were not in the playoffs and did not reach our goals this year it has not carried over to the practice field.
"The support staff also deserves credit. Our team administrator Erik Carlson our athletic trainers Theron Enns and Craig Magri and our equipment manager Carlos Garcia people you don’t hear a lot about it’s important that they have a positive attitude and they have had that.
"Overall we are using the situation we are in as a stepping stone to get better during this time. The problem this time of year is getting 11-a-side training. College teams are in season and professional teams are shutting down.
"Individual and small group training has been addressed and we have definitely seen improvement in certain players. I can’t say enough about everyone’s attitude they have done very well with what we have asked them to do."
