The Colorado Rapids announced today the signing of Brandan Gonzales (gamertag: GONZO_SZN) as the club's new eMLS player. Gonzales, who is currently ranked 114th in the world for XBOX in the EA Sports FIFA 20 Global Series, will represent the Rapids in the 2020 eMLS season.

“I’m excited to really represent the Rapids,” Gonzales said. “I’m excited to grow not only my brand but to help grow Rapids fans. My main focus is winning for the team.”

Gonzales is a Colorado native, currently living in Littleton. He works part-time as a substitute elementary school teacher and also has passion for Information Technology, in which he takes classes.

“I’ve always come to Rapids games and been connected. I’m very passionate for the club. I want to be a great representative.”

The Rapids are one of 25 MLS Clubs participating in the 2020 eMLS season, which will begin this weekend with the eMLS League Series presented by PlayStation. Each of the two League Series tournaments will be live streamed, with its own trophy lift and opportunity to win prizes. These tournaments will also allow eMLS players to accumulate points to determine seeding for eMLS Cup presented by PlayStation, which will take place during the second weekend of SXSW (South by Southwest) in Austin, Texas.

As eMLS is an Official League Partner of the FIFA 20 Global Series, the eMLS Cup winner will receive 850 Global Series points, supporting their qualification for the Global Series Playoffs and ultimately the FIFA eWorld Cup, where the winner will be crowned the undisputed FIFA 20 World Champion.

Gonzales replaces Adbelrahman Tamim as the club's eMLS representative after Tamim's contract was terminated last month.
