Community Team of the Week | Week 5

In honor of National Nurses Week, we are recognizing healthcare workers who are going above and beyond to make a positive impact on their patients during COVID-19.

This week's Team of the Week is the Medical Center of Aurora Respiratory Team, Emma Waymire, Mike Guthrie, Casey Cannata, and Jordan Grohskopf.

Read the incredible stories of these superstars below, and send us your nominees for our future Team of the Week announcements here!

The Respiratory Team from the Medical Center of Aurora was nominated by the Directory of Respiratory Care, Andrew Waugh.

"What keeps us motivated is knowing how much a positive impact our team is making to our patients," Waugh said. "We are beating the national average in successfully getting COVID positive patients off of ventilators because we are dedicated to what we do as respiratory care practitioners. Watching patients discharge home to be with their family inspires us to continue the incredible work we are doing. This is by far the biggest challenge we have ever faced. We ask that you continue to support us by taking precautions for yourself and those around you.”

Emma Waymire is a Infection Prevention Manager at the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children and was nominated by the Director of Marketing, Mari Abrams.

Abrams said, “Emma has done an absolutely incredible job helping our hospital create and navigate our COVID-19 response. She is simply incredible!”

Mike Guthrie is the Director of Pastoral Care at the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children and was nominated by the Director of Marketing, Mari Abrams.

Abrams said, “Mike has been supporting the spiritual needs of patients and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Casey Cannata is a registered nurse in the Labor and Delivery Unit at the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children and was nominated by the Director of Marketing, Mari Abrams.

Abrams said, “She is a L&D nurse who went over and above helping to care for a COVID-19 patient who was celebrating her birthday in the hospital.”

Jordan Grohskof is an ICU nurse at Sky Ridge Medical Center and was nominated by the VP of Marketing and Public Affairs, Linda Watson Kolstad.

Watson Kolstad said, “Jordan has taken care of more COVID positive and PUI patients than anyone else in the ICU. She is a superstar.”
