The Colorado Rapids confirmed today that a second player has tested positive for COVID-19 following mandatory club testing and verified via a subsequent secondary test on Thursday. No additional positive results for players or staff were received.

The second player is asymptomatic, feeling well and has been in isolation since Tuesday.

Following the initial positive case, the Rapids immediately suspended training and all players and team staff went into self-isolation while additional testing and extensive contact tracing took place, among other health and safety protocols. Training will remain suspended until all protocol criteria are met.

The safety and wellbeing of our players, coaches and staff remain the Rapids’ top priority. Since the club began individual player workouts on May 14, the Rapids have followed MLS health and safety guidelines, including proper physical distancing and sanitization during individual workouts, small group training sessions and full-team training sessions. The club will continue to work in close consultation with the CDC, local health authorities and MLS regarding testing and training guidelines.
