Andrew Butler

Head of Academy Talent I.D. & Recruitment Lead and U17 Assistant Coach

Andy Butler joined the Rapids staff full time in May of 2019 and currently serves as the Head of Academy Talent I.D. and Recruitment Lead and U-17 Assistant Coach.

Andy joined the Rapids after spending 12 years in North Carolina working in a number of roles within North Carolina Fusion's system. From 2015 to 2019, Andy was the Academy Director for NC Fusion, overseeing the Academy and Boys ECNL programs as well as coaching the U-17 Academy team. Prior to that, he served in a number of capacities including leading the girls ECNL program and serving as the U-15-19 Boys Director. During his time in North Carolina, Andy helped in the development of numerous Youth National team and professional players. Prior to moving to North Carolina, Andy was the Mens Assistant Coach for Lock Haven University, PA. During his two years at LHU, the team enjoyed success reaching the NCAA Division II Quarter Finals.

Originally from Mirfield, West Yorkshire in England, Andy moved to the U.S in 2001 to attend Louisburg college on a soccer scholarship. At Louisburg he earned NSCAA All American accolades and helped the team to consecutive National Championship Tournaments, finishing 6th and 7th in 2001 and 2002 respectively. After Louisburg he moved to the University of Buffalo where he earned all MAC honors in 2004. During his college playing days, Andy also represented Richmond Kickers Future PDL helping them to a Mid Atlantic Conference title in 2003

In June 2018, Andy completed the USSF Academy Director License. He is the holder of the USSF 'A' License, USSF Youth license and NSCAA (USC) Advanced National Diploma.

Andy currently resides in Denver.
