Academy Performance Coach

Jessica Mendez joined the staff in August 2020 as the Rapid's Academy performance coach. Jessica oversees all performance areas for the 5 teams within the academy including GPS Data, on field strength and fitness work, as well as working with players coming back from injury. Prior to joining the Rapids, Jessica was a strength and Conditioning intern at the University of Denver, assisting with all Division 1 sports as well as working as a youth weight lifting coach for Mighty Movement Academy. Before moving to Denver, Jessica worked with the Orlando City and Orlando Pride Organizations as a performance nutrition intern and then as a fitness intern for 2 years. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with her B.S. in Exercise Science and is currently pursuing her Masters in Applied Exercise Physiology. She holds her Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist certification (CSCS) and her USA Weightlifting Certification (USAW). Originally from Miami, Florida, Jessica is a 1st Generation American being born to Colombian Parents.
