COMMERCE CITY, Colo. —  The Colorado Rapids announced today that Rapids Academy players Nolan Nguyen and Idris Louison have been called into the U.S. Boys’ National Team for their upcoming Futures Camp in Fayetteville, Georgia. Nguyen will represent the U-16 side under Head Coach Paul Simpson, and Louison will represent the U-15 side under Head Coach Ross Brady.

The duo will join the group on February 19 and will remain with their respective squads until February 24.

The camp marks the launch of the U.S. U-15 and U-16 Boys’ National Team Futures program, an initiative that provides additional programming throughout the year for players from ages 14 to 16 years old, with the goal of identifying, supporting and developing high-potential players who physically mature later than their peers. The initiative is additive to the already-existing Men’s Youth National Team structure, which operates seven teams between the U-15 and U-23 age groups, with the U-15 and U-16 BNT Futures each set to gather for camps three times throughout the calendar year.

Nguyen, 15, has been with Rapids Academy since the U13 level. Prior to joining, the Commerce City native was identified for the club’s Futures Program that provides identified players with a supplemental training program while continuing to participate and compete with their active club team. Nguyen logged one goal and five assists this past season and is receiving his second U.S. Youth National Team call up in his young career.

Louison, 15, has spent the last two years with Rapids Academy since joining from Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club. Featuring mainly as a right back, Louison has played at the U-14 level, but currently occupies a spot on the U-15 roster. In this past fall season, Louison helped record 4 clean sheets while logging 935 minutes since the start of the season.
