The inaugural Bowl With the Rapids event raised around $2500 for the Rapids Foundation's efforts to fight hunger in our community. Bowl with the Rapids is one of many programs and events offered by the Colorado Rapids Community Care Foundation annually as the Rapids' official charity continues to provide opportunities that make a difference in the lives of underprivileged families.
WESTMINSTER CO (Rapids Foundation) - The Colorado Rapids Community Care Foundation hosted the inaugural "Rapids Bowling for Charity" fundraiser to fight hunger on Tuesday November 11 at Splitz Bowling Center in Westminster.
More than 100 people attended the event and fans got to share an exciting evening of "Lightning Strikes" bowling giveaways food and drinks and more with the entire Rapids team and the Rapids mascots!

Rapids fans were matched up on teams with the club's players in attendance who included: Mehdi Ballouchy Jose Burciaga Jr. Preston Burpo Conor Casey Colin Clark Nico Colaluca Bouna Coundoul John DiRaimondo Facundo Erpen Cory Gibbs Christian Gomez Mike Graczyk Brian Grazier Jordan Harvey Justin Hughes Ugo Ihemelu Stephen Keel Kosuke Kimura Nick LaBrocca Pablo Mastroeni Tom McManus Ciaran O’Brien Jacob Peterson Tim Ward and Cesar Zambrano.
But the event wasn't all just fun and games with the players as fans' bowling skills were also put to the test! Prizes were awarded to the top male and female fans with the highest scores! "Vegas" took home the male prize and Marcela took home the top female bowler award!
The Rapids Foundation also sold Mystery Boxes for $20 each. Every box contained fantastic gifts and fans walked away with great prizes such as: club Level tickets to the U.S.A. vs. Guatemala game at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park Denver Nuggets basketball tickets Arapahoe Basin Ski Lift Tickets a Microsoft Zune Media Player autographed Rapids merchandise and gift cards from area restaurants like Chop House Dave & Buster’s Canino’s Restaurant California Pizza Kitchen and Pizza Bowl.
Rapids players and fans were seen giving each other high-fives and celebrating the excitement of that hard-to-get strike when it felt like that 10th pin would never fall. Fans and players alike also constantly raided the free buffet that was available all night long!
"It was a great evening filled with pizza laughter and fun. It also felt good knowing that we were raising money for hungry families this holiday season said Rapids Goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul.
