Rapids Weekly Team Update - Hello From Florida!

SUNRISE FL (2/12/08) - After arriving in Florida last night as part of the club's first leg of preseason training the Rapids got to work this morning in the first of two training sessions on the day.
The coaches ran the team through some warm-ups and fitness drills during the first hour of practice. Following that the team was split with the first team playing keep away.
On the other side of the pitch the rookies took on the reserves in a couple of possession games. In the first game they had to play the ball to the ‘keeper’s feet and retain possession to earn a point.
During the second the goalkeepers had to remain in a triangle as they caught a ball played to them in the air to score.
Rapids fans will be pleased to hear that despite their injuries at the end of the last season both Dan Gargan and Herculez Gomez were playing all out in today's training sessions.
The Rapids who had been scheduled to be back on the field this afternoon will instead be going to a nearby gym to do some weightlifting due to a waterlogged pitch.
Be sure to check back in with every Tuesday for continued updates and player blogs from spring training!

Head Coach Fernando Clavijo on the first day of the Flordia training camp:
"We were looking to come to South Florida to get outdoors and on grass. Unfortunately the bad weather has followed from Denver as it is pouring rain and we aren’t going to be able to do what we wanted to this afternoon. It was great for the guys this morning to get back on grass and to get playing. We had a long journey yesterday but the guys are excited. Even though it is raining they are happy to finally see some 75-degree weather."
