Rapids to use pink adidas ball in honor of breast cancer awareness month

Rapids to use 4th different match ball Friday versus RSL

Commerce City, Colo. - For the fouth time this year, the Rapids will debut a new match ball when they host Real Salt Lake on Friday, October 14. In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Rocky Mountain Cup rivals will play with the pink adidas Jabulani match ball in the Rapids regular season home finale.

Colorado have used the silver 'MLS Cup Champions' adidas Jabulani for all regular season home matches (6-2-8), the white adidas Jabulani for all League road games (5-7-4), and a white Nike ball in the CONCACAF Champions League (2-2-1). The Rapids have won their first games using the silver Jabulani (Portland, March 19), white Jabulani (at Chivas USA, March 26), and white Nike (Isidro Metapan).

Last year, Colorado played with the pink adidas ball in three October matches, losing at home to DC (1-0), tying Dallas on the road (2-2), and defeating the Galaxy in LA (3-1).

The Rapids will help raise money and awareness for the Colorado Cancer Coalition Friday at the Community Relations table atop Section 129 at through a silent auction and charity sales, as well as in-kind donations. All proceeds from the various efforts will benefit the Colorado Breast Cancer Resources Directory, a statewide guide of support resources and information for those recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
