Harrison Henao at Colorado Rapids training

Midfielder Henao talks about joining the Rapids

Midfielder Harrison Henao has arrives and begun training with the Colorado Rapids. With all paperwork in, he is now eligible for selection and available to play, becoming the third player from Colombia to join the club this season (see Luis Zapata, Jaime Castrillon). He will, for the time being, fill the roster spot and international slot of injured midfielder Jamie Smith.

Below is the transcript of his first interview since arriving from Colombia's Once Caldas this week:

Henao: "I was playing for Once Caldas in Colombia. I had few opportunities to play recently when I'm told of this opportunity, and I autmatically said yes. I'm very happy, hoping that everything goes well, and ready to enjoy my stay on this team and in this country."

ColoradoRapids.com: Why is it that so many players from Colombia have come to MLS this year?

Henao: "It's a league that is still growing and that every year the level is higher. Economically it is very good, and the opportunity to educate your family and to learn new things, is what I think attracts so many players, and that's why every day there are more."

ColoradoRapids.com: And what about the league in general?

Henao: "It's fast. The competition is better. In Colombia, it's a bit slower, and here they run more. For the fan, this is much better."

ColoradoRapids.com: What type of player are you?

Henao: "I'm a player that leaves everything on the field, that puts the effort in for my team and my teammates. Apart from that, I'm good technically, I hit the ball well, and like to score."

ColoradoRapids.com: What positions do you see yourself playing?

Henao: "I'm a central midfielder, but I can play on the right side as well as play further up the field as well."

ColoradoRapids.com: Welcome to the Colorado Rapids!

Henao: "Well, God willing I hope my stay here results in many good things, that we can win and fight for the championship. That is what one dreams about and what we work for!"
