Colorado Rapids rookie Deshorn Brown #20 on's 24 Under 24 list

After three years without a player making's 24 Under 24 series, the Colorado Rapids have had two players - so far - make the 2013 list for best young MLS players. today revealed that Rapids forward Deshorn Brown made the list at #20, three spots better than fellow first round SuperDraft pick Dillon Powers, who on Monday came in at #23.

Brown, 22, leads the team in goals with seven in playing 27 of the 29 matches so far. The 6th overall pick in January's draft also has four assists on the season.

These are some of the comments MLS coaches and technical directors that contributed to Brown making the list:

“He’s got great athleticism, great pace...He can score goals.... He’s a handful... He strikes a good ball...He’s got the frame and the athleticism to survive in this league ... He can fly. ... He’s been dangerous as a guy who has the pace to get behind defenders.... He's good in the air, he's strong, and his link-up play is actually better than I thought it would be in college...He's able to play as a No. 9 through the middle or play wide in their front three, so he's shown some versatility." will reveal the remaining 16 players throughout the week. Other eligible Rapids players who have seen significant first-team minutes this year are Chris Klute and Shane O'Neill.

In order to be eligible, players have to 23 years old and younger as of the final day of the 2013 MLS season – in this case, MLS Cup on Dec. 7. editorial staff and various American soccer media members voted, rating all players on criteria which included technical, tactical, physical attributes, personality, and potential.
