Dear Rapids Fans,
It’s a beautiful day for soccer here at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to the stadium for tonight’s match against the LA Galaxy. As many of you already know, this is Military Appreciation Night, and we have a number of events planned to celebrate our armed forces for everything they give to all of us. We also hope that you’ll join us in thanking them for their patriotism and dedication as you see the many service members around the stadium.
As part of the celebration, it is a great honor for everyone at Kroenke Sports & Entertainment to be able to present the Rocky Mountain USO with a check for $10,000, and we want to thank Swire Coca-Cola for their help with this donation. You’ll see Matt Hutchings, the Chief Operating Officer of KSE, as well as Jack Pelo, Swire Coca-Cola’s President and CEO, giving the check to USO representative Linda Lorenzana right before the match starts.
We also want to encourage you to arrive early to see the military vehicles in SoccerFest, located just outside Eighteen76 on the south end of the stadium, and participate in the games and giveaways there.
Tonight is also momentous for the club after the historic jersey sponsorship agreement we signed earlier this week with Ciao Telecom. The players will all be wearing Ciao’s logos on their shirts starting tonight and running through 2018, and we couldn’t be more excited to be joining with an international company like Ciao that is now expanding into the United States.
If you would like an exclusive first look at the jersey with the Ciao logo, please come out to the Centennial 38 pregame tailgate at 5 p.m., located near the SoccerFest area to the south of the stadium. I’ll be there for a short unveiling ceremony with Don Pinkston, President of Ciao North America, as well as Pablo Mastroeni and Shane O’Neill, who will show us the new shirt. It will only last for about 15 minutes, and all are welcome – I hope to see you there!
I also want to mention those of you looking to purchase jerseys with the Ciao logo. We’ll have them in our team store starting next weekend, or at www.AltitudeAuthentics.com this week. Also, thanks to Ciao, if you’ve already purchased a 2014 burgundy or 2013/2014 blue jersey (authentic or replica) you can bring it to our team store next Friday, or next Sunday for the Chivas USA match and get the Ciao logo pressed on at no cost.
It should be an exciting match tonight, and we’ll be looking for a home victory against a difficult LA team. Homegrown Player Dillon Serna, from Brighton, scored his first MLS goal last week, and hopefully he can build on that performance. We’ll also be hoping that Edson Buddle becomes the 8th player in MLS history to score 100 goals, and to keep Landon Donovan from scoring his MLS record 135th career goal. Finally, congratulations to our Assistant Coach John Metgod, who is back home in Holland celebrating the birth of his first grandchild!
As always, if there is anything we can do to help improve your experience here at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, please speak with our Customer Service staff, or get in touch with me directly on Twitter, @tkhinchey3. Enjoy the game, and come on you Rapids!
