Rapids Academy teams on 2016 preseason international trips

The Colorado Rapids have two academy teams in Europe this week as they begin their preseason training.

2003s Win Galway Cup

Last year, the 2002s won the Galway Cup in Ireland defeating Belvedere 2-0. The 2003s repeated that feat defeating Finn Harps 2-0 in this year's Premier Cup Final Their full schedule from the tournament is below.

Update 8/06/16: For the second year in a row, the Rapids are taking home the Galway Cup. The Rapids defeated Finn Harps in the final by a score of 2-0, the same scoreline between the teams during group play. Progression to the final was confirmed after the 3-1 victory over Foyle Harps in the semifinal.

Update 8/04/16: The 2003s played their final group stage game today, a 2-0 victory over Finn Harps. With that win, the Rapids topped their group ending with a 2-0-1 record and will play in the semifinals tomorrow.

1999s in Germany

The 1999s head to Germany for preseason training in Munich. They will train at SV Heimstetten's facilities as well as take part in two friendly matches.

Update 8/10/16: In their final preseason match in Germany, the 1999s lost 4-0 to Ingolstadt. The team will return home on on Thursday, August 11.

Update 8/06/16: The 1999s competed in their first preseason match in Munich drawing TSV 1860 Munich U19s 1-1. Aaron Martinez headed in the Rapids' lone goal off a Sam Vines set piece.
