This afternoon we welcome San Jose Earthquakes to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (TICKETS). Two goals from Kevin Doyle were enough for a 2-1 victory at home the last time we met, and we would gladly take that today.
For a second successive home game we suffered something of a gut punch, with Vancouver taking all three points out of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park eight days ago. It is at testing times such as these that your support is even more critical and even more appreciated.
You, the fans, meanwhile stepped up another level for the Whitecaps game with the outpouring of support for our Homegrown player Kortne Ford and his mom, Laurie. The time and effort put in to go the extra yards for the Ford family was quite overwhelming, and will have given them so much strength to know that they are not fighting this battle alone. Those wishing to support Laurie and Kortne can still do so HERE. And, again, thank you.
The Rapids Podcast is always a great listen, but I would urge you to take in the latest episode, which has a fascinating chat with Tim Howard, and an insightful interview with our Sporting Director, Pádraig Smith. Without giving too much away, Pádraig will become something of a regular on the podcast, as he looks to keep the fans connected.
Thanks once again to our good friends at Coca-Cola, we have another wonderful deal for today’s game against the Quakes. As part of the Coca-Cola Family Night, you can get a ticket, a meal, and a Coca-Cola product starting at just $30. Click HERE for details.
Burgundy Boulevard, located outside of Gate F on the west side of the stadium, opens at 12:00 p.m. There will be the usual $3 Budweiser and Bud Light in Eighteen76, the SoccerFest Family Zone, the Toyota Soccer Kick Inflatable and giveaways.
Following this afternoon’s encounter, we then have back-to-back road games, at Chicago Fire (Wednesday) and Philadelphia Union (next Saturday), before returning home to play Western Conference rivals Sporting Kansas City on May 27 (TICKETS). All three of these games are on Altitude TV.
Also, a reminder that our home game with the Portland Timbers, originally set for June 18, has been brought forward 24 hours (SCHEDULE), and will now be played on Saturday, June 17 (7:30 p.m.).
The commemorative poster series continues this afternoon. These wonderful posters are sold during select home games, to benefit Kroenke Sports Charities. A limited number will be released, each featuring a different local artist’s design. The posters are $10 each and will be available for purchase at the top of Section 129.
Thank you for your continued support. It truly is appreciated. Here’s hoping for a ‘W’, and I look forward to seeing you back at the end of the month when Sporting KC come to town.
Come on you Rapids,
