Tale of the Tape: Can Tim Howard and the Rapids soil Union's win, shutout streaks?

Two international goalkeepers will be on display inside Talen Energy Stadium on Saturday, when the Colorado Rapids visit Philadelphia Union (5:00 p.m. MT).

The number one keepers for both the USA and Jamaica, Tim Howard and Andre Blake, have experienced different starts to the season. Blake will be keen to make it a fifth shutout in a row, while Howard will be eager to help the Rapids halt their road woes.

Howard enjoyed his first shutout of 2017 in the Rapids' 3-0 home win over San Jose Earthquakes last weekend. Blake picked up his fifth shutout of the season on Wednesday, as the Union defeated Houston Dynamo 2-0 at home.

One of the greatest players the US has ever produced, Howard has been the standard bearer for American goalkeepers over the past 10 years. A premier shot-stopper, Howard has been the starting goalkeeper for the US in the past two World Cups.

What they say …

The first goalkeeper taken with the top pick of the MLS college draft, Blake finally assumed the mantle of No. 1 goalkeeper. After overcoming knee injuries in 2015, the Jamaica international was named MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in 2016.
