MLS CAREER

2017

  • Sat out the trip to New York Red Bulls (3/11) due to headaches.
  • Opened his account for the season with a stoppage-time consolation at Sporting Kansas City (4/9), netting from the penalty spot in a 3-1 loss.
  • On target the following week (4/15), with a header beyond Nick Rimando of Real Salt Lake. It was Doyle's 50th appearance, but the Rapids would lose their unbeaten home record as RSL came back to win 2-1.
  • Scored the equalizer against Columbus Crew SC, in an eventual 2-1 win (6/3).
  • Threaded through an inch-perfect pass to Dominique Badji for the equalizer against Portland Timbers (6/17).
  • Bagged two assists and a goal in the 3-1 win over Houston Dynamo (7/1). This was his first multi-assist game in MLS. It also equaled the assist total from his previous two seasons combined.
  • On target for his fifth goal of the season in the 2-2 home tie with Vancouver Whitecaps FC (8/5). It was his third goal against the Whitecaps. At the time, he had scored more goals against Vancouver than any other MLS team. He made his debut against the Canadian team, on May 23, 2015, and also scored his first goal in MLS against Vancouver, on July 4 of that year.

2016

  • Missed four games (from April 2) due to a leg injury, sustained while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.
  • His first goal of 2016 came as a substitute in the 3-1 win over Seattle Sounders FC on April 23.
  • Added goals in the tie at Columbus Crew SC (May 14), the win over Chicago Fire (June 18) and the 2-0 home victory versus Vancouver Whitecaps FC (August 6). In that game against the Whitecaps he managed his first goal/assist double in MLS.
  • Doyle then went eight starts (nine appearances) without a goal, before missing four games due to an ankle injury sustained at FC Dallas on September 10. He had entered the game late as a substitute.
  • On his return from injury, on October 13, Doyle struck twice - including once from the penalty spot - as the Rapids defeated San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 to go top of the Supporters' Shield standings.
  • Finished the regular season playing underneath Dominique Badji in the '10' role.
  • He scored six goals and provided two assists in his first full season in MLS.
  • Made MLS Team of the Week twice (Weeks 18 and 32/33).
  • Scored the opening penalty for the Rapids in their 3-1 shootout win over LA Galaxy in the second leg of the Western Conference Semifinal (11/6).

2015

  • News that Irish international Kevin Doyle had signed for the Rapids as a Designated Player broke at the end of March, but he did not make his MLS debut until May 23rd and the 1-0 home win over Vancouver Whitecaps, when he replaced Gabriel Torres after 63 minutes.
  • His first start for his new club came four days later in the 1-0 defeat at Seattle Sounders FC, but he would have to wait until 4th July for his first goal for Colorado, which proved to be the winner in a 2-1 home victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
  • Doyle scored a team-leading five goals in all, the first four of which were game-winners. Two of his five goals were also nominated for AT&T Goal of the Week.
  • The striker's form for the Rapids did not go unnoticed, and he received regular call-ups from the Republic of Ireland as they qualified for the 2016 European Championship.

OTHER PROFESSIONAL

  • Having shot to prominence in the Eircom League with Cork City, Doyle moved to England to join Reading in 2005. He immediately settled to life in the Championship, helping Reading to promotion and then notching 13 goals in the Premier League in 2006/07.
  • The striker, who also notched 18 goals in the Championship for Reading in the 2008/09 campaign, as well as being named the Football Association of Ireland's Player of the Year, is a regular in the Republic of Ireland starting line-up.
  • Although joining Wolves for an undisclosed fee in June, 2009, Wolves confirmed that Doyle had become the club's record signing. The Irish striker had become hot property during the summer, but chose Wolves above a host of other clubs as he made the move from Reading.
  • It wasn't long however before he started to make a major influence at Wolves, scoring his first goal for the club in the win against Fulham in September, 2009. His total of nine goals from 33 Barclays Premier League starts made him Wolves' top scorer, and he also secured the Player's Player of the Season award as well as finishing second in the fans' vote.
  • Although missing bits of the start and end of the 2010/11 season with injury, Doyle was once again a hugely influential figure for Wolves, scoring eight goals from 31 appearances in all competitions. He once again finished as runner-up in the Fans Vote for Player of the Season in a campaign in which he also continued to excel for the Republic of Ireland.
  • His minutes were limited at Wolves during the 2014-15 season, though he did spend time at Premier League clubs Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace on loan.
  • Capped 63 times by the Republic of Ireland (as of 11/11/16). He was called into the squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier away to Austria on November 12, 2016, but was an unused substitute in the game in Vienna.
  • Named in Ireland's squad for their World Cup qualifier at home to Wales (3/24/17). Was an unused substitute.
  • Started the international friendly against Iceland (3/28/17) at Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
