It was a day for debuts in Carson, California as the U.S. men's national team topped Costa Rica 1-0 to open their 2020 schedule

In all, seven players made their debut for the United States. Of note for Rapids fans was, of course, Sam Vines. The Development Academy product became the first Homegrown Player in club history to appear for the United States senior team. The 20-year-old put in a solid shift on both sides of the ball before being subbed off in the 77th minute.

Jonathan Lewis helped the U.S. see out the win as he entered the match in 73rd minute. The appearance marked the sixth USMNT cap for Lewis who made his debut last January.

Both players will re-join the their Rapids teammates in Orange County when preseason training camp resumes on February 5.
