The Rapids had the best of the opportunities as well as the possession of the ball in the first half coming closest with chances from defender Nat Borchers and midfielder Mark Chung that went just inches wide.

It was defender Ritchie Kotschau who had the best opportunity for the Black and Blue in the 22nd minute when he missed a header off a bouncing ball just inches from goal. Chung sent a dangerous cross that bounced pass all defenders inside Real’s penalty area before surprising Kotschau who was unable to direct the header into the home team’s goal.

Real Salt Lake responded in the 31st minute when rookie midfielder Luke Kreamalmeyer forced Joe Cannon to make a fantastic save.

In the 49th minute a dangerous cross from Luchi Gonzalez was just missed by sliding Kyle Beckerman right in front of Real’s goal.

Cameroonian international Alain Nkong had a golden opportunity late in the second half when he was given ample time and space for a shot that went over the crossbar.

Real finally got the only goal of the game in the 81st minute when Dunseth beat Cannon on a diving header from three yards out. The cross from Clint Mathis bounced once inside the Rapids' penalty area before finding Dunseth on the far post for the defender to push the ball into the back of the net on an easy header.

The Rapids return home tonight and will hold five training sessions before hosting the Columbus Crew on Saturday April 23rd at 7:00 p.m. (MT) at INVESCO Field at Mile High.
