Vicente Sanchez and Dillon Powers

Oscar Pareja: Dillon Powers and Vicente Sanchez will travel to Vancouver

Colorado Rapids coach Oscar Pareja told reporters Friday after training that he has not ruled out midfielders Dillon Powers and Vicente Sanchez from playing in the final regular season match against Vancouver on Sunday (6 p.m. MT, Altitude 2).

Powers has been out since suffering a concussion on October 5 against Seattle while Sanchez has been in doubt with a sprained shoulder sustained last week against the Whitecaps.

"They are on the traveling roster," Pareja said of Powers and Sanchez. "We will take these two days to keep evaluating the possibility to play them or not."

Pareja said that Powers still needs to complete steps in Major League Soccer's concussion protocol and that the rookie would either take the tests in Colorado before leaving or possibly in Vancouver if necessary.

Pareja also said that he will take 20 players on the trip as a precaution, and in case of the potentially quick turnaround to a knockout match in Seattle next Wednesday.

"We have all the scenarios planned already," he said. "In the case that we have to play away on Wednesday or Thursday, or that we play at home on Thursday. It's all been planned. If we play at Seattle we will go directly from Vancouver."

As for Sunday's opponent, even though Vancouver has been eliminated from contention - and baring the strangest outcome to keep the Rapids from the postseason, Pareja views the match as a playoff game.

"I don't think the series has finished yet," Pareja said of meeting the Whitecaps in the second game of a home-and-home. "We're not mathematically qualified. I know it sounds ridiculous, but this team has taken it that way. We want to go and fight for those points and the three points puts us in a better spot."

The Rapids will depart for Vancouer on Saturday morning.
