France won the 2018 FIFA World Cup after defeating Croatia 4-2 in an epic and entertaining match at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. It was a fitting end to an outstanding tournament.

Croatia's Ivan Perišić and Mario Mandžukić (on both ends) contributed to the six-goal scoresheet, but it would be France's Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappé that would secured the victory for Les Bleus.

"We did something incredible, we made history and we are going to enjoy it. We're going to see our families and we're going to party," Griezmann said postgame. "Tomorrow in France will be the same, we're going to party with the French people."

Head coach Didier Deschamps lifted the World Cup trophy for his second time today, 20 years after capturing his country's first title as France's captain in 1998.  He is only the third man ever to take the trophy as a player and a coach after Franz Beckenbauer and Mario Zagallo.

Croatia, and captain Luka Modrić, come up just short but this side will not be forgetten as the Vatreni clinched their best-ever World Cup finish with an amazing run all the way to the final.
