Colorado Rapids acquire striker Joe Mason on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers FC

Colorado Rapids Soccer Club announced today the acquisition of striker
Joe Mason
, using targeted allocation money, from English Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. on a one-year loan agreement. Mason will be added to the Rapids’ roster upon receipt of his ITC (International Transfer Certificate) and P-1 visa.

During his time in the English Championship, Mason found the back of the net on 42 occasions, averaging a goal in every 2.88 games. 
Prior to signing with Wolves, Mason spent five seasons with fellow Championship side Cardiff City, scoring 22 goals in 97 appearances. During his time under contract with the Welsh side, Mason spent the better part of two seasons on loan with Bolton Wanderers, scoring 10 goals in 28 appearances for The Trotters across all competitions.
Mason got his start in soccer with hometown team Plymouth Argyle, joining the club’s youth academy at the age of 10. A fan-favorite, Mason would go on to make his senior debut on December 5, 2009 in a home clash with Sheffield United. His first senior team goal came on February 27, 2010, also against Sheffield United.
Born in England but eligible to play for the Republic of Ireland, Mason has featured for the country’s U-18, U-19, and U-21 national teams, scoring three goals in 12 total appearances.
