PDL Press Release

Colorado Rapids U23 join Premier Development League

Colorado Rapids Soccer Club announced today that the Colorado Rapids U23 team will take part in the Premier Development League (PDL) ahead of the 2017 season.

“Participating in the PDL is a significant step for the club. Our U23 program provides us with consistent competition for our Homegrown players that are in the college track, as well as for our top Academy players coming through the Development Academy ranks,” said Rapids Sr. Director of Soccer Development Brian Crookham.

“Kortne Ford, Richi Perez and Sam Hamilton all participated in our pilot program last year and we feel the program gave us a great opportunity to continue the evaluation and development of these players prior to their signing with the first team.”

Crookham will serve as General Manager of the team, while current Development Academy Program Director Chris Martinez was named the team’s Head Coach for their inaugural campaign.

The Rapids U23 will begin the 2017 season with a road matchup against FC Boulder U23 at 5:30 p.m. MT on Saturday, May 13 at Prentup Field.
