Harrison Henao

How the latest additions may affect the roster

Over the last two week the Colorado Rapids have signed Colombian midfielder Harrison Henao and Brazilian forward Edu. Neither player can officially be added to the roster until all their paperwork is in. However once MLS received all the necessary documents, the Rapids will need to create space in order to fit them on the roster.

As it stands today, the Rapids' roster is capped with 30 players accounting for the allotted MLS salary budget. And, all six available International slots are also accounted for. Which means, the team will need to create salary space AND either acquire additional International slots via trade, or make a move with the current international players in order to add Henao and Edu.

Scotsman Jamie Smith is still on the Disabled List while he recovers from his ACL surgery, therefore his international slot and roster spot is available to be used until he is ready to return. The midfielder took part in his first full training session since his injury on Wednesday. Anthony Wallace is on the Season Ending injured list so the club could use his roster spot if they have budget available.

Henao has received his visa and the Federation his international transfer certificate (ITC). He is expected to arrive in Colorado on Friday evening, therefore he won't be officially added to the roster until next week. Edu’s ITC is in and he now awaits his visa in order to be eligible.
