Eric Wynalda and Ciaran O'Brien with the Atlanta Silverbacks

Former USMNT forward Eric Wynalda says Chris Klute 'Better than ANYBODY U.S. has ever had'

There were plenty of people that expressed their displeasure with's list of the 24 'best' players under the age of 24, which omitted Colorado Rapids defenders Chris Klute and Shane O'Neill. The 24-person panel that voted for that list consisted of 12 editors and 12 members of the media - including a couple of former U.S. Men's National Team players.

But there was one national media member and former USMNT great that was not on the panel: Eric Wynalda. And he finally had a chance to vote - at least for one player.

After the final 24under24 list was published last Friday,'s Armchair Analyst Matt Doyle posted a story stating that he thought Klute should have been included. Then the site posted another story where an un-named MLS head coach and technical director had Klute on their list. And another story where statisticians, Opta, also had Klute on their list based on performance.

This week, posted a story on Chris Klute's fantastic season. The site later posted another video from Doyle where he talks about three potential future USMNT fullbacks: Klute, Seattle's DeAndre Yedlin, and New England Andrew Farrell (Watch above).

I don't know about you, but something tells me people over at may have realized that Klute was clearly snubbed???

Enter Eric Wynalda, who discovered Klute while coaching the Atlanta Silverback in the summer of 2012.

When Klute joined the Rapids on loan late last year, Wynalda said Klute was similar to former USMNT defender Eddie Pope. This week, the three-time World Cup veteran - who has been working as a Fox Soccer analyst - made an even bolder statement when he commented on the link of's video.

Below is a screen grab of what Wynalda wrote. Anyone else think that's a friendly jab at the panel in his second comment?
