Lucas Pittinari has officially joined the Colorado Rapids on a one year loan from Argentine top club Belgrano. The 23-year-old completed the necessary physical and paperwork, and is currently with his new teammates at their preseason training camp in San Diego.
“This is a young player who has energy, great vision and is a very good passer of the ball,” said Rapids VP of Soccer Operations and Technical Director, Paul Bravo. “And, despite being only 23, he already has a great deal of experience playing at the highest level in Argentina. We’re very excited to have him on board.”
Pittinari is a versatile midfielder who has made more than 70 appearances for Belgrano, and will add further quality and competition to the core of the side.
"Lucas is a class gentleman, a great teammate and a great competitor as well,” head coach Pablo Mastroeni added. “So him, along with the other guys that we have, could be a very important part of what we do moving forward.”
“I am very happy to be here at the Colorado Rapids,” Pittinari said. “The other players, already, have made me feel very welcome, and I look forward to helping the side achieve success this year.”
The new arrival will wear the number 22 jersey, vacated by Marvell Wynne at the end of last season.
