Colorado Rapids acquire Winn, Pierrot in second round of MLS SuperDraft

With the second and fourth picks of the MLS SuperDraft second round, Colorado Rapids Soccer Club selected forwards Alan Winn and Frantzdy Pierrot of the University of North Carolina and Coastal Carolina University, respectively.

Held at the Convention Center in historic Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Rapids – who did not hold a first round selection in this year’s draft – chose to bolster their attacking credentials with two of the first-four second round selections.

Winn joins the club from the University of North Carolina following a stellar senior season for the Tar Heels. A native of Garland, Texas, Winn led the team with 11 goals, was named a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist, First Team All-ACC and a Second Team All-American all while leading the Tar Heels back to the NCAA Men's College Cup. Over his four years at Chapel Hill, he found the back of the net 23 times, adding 14 assists en route to being named to an All-ACC team each of his four years.

Pierrot, who stands six-foot-four-inches, also comes to Commerce City following a terrific senior season, having finished the year as the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year. Pierrot bagged 10 goals and four assists in 2017, after leading CCU to a conference title. He was also named Sun Belt Tournament MVP.
