Rapids Weekly Team Update

COMMERCE CITY CO (5/13/08) – The Colorado Rapids have a short turn-around between matches as the team has four days to prepare for their nationally televised ESPN2 contest against Real Salt Lake this Thursday May 15 at 7:30 pm MT.
The team practiced on Monday (which is typically a day off for the players) and Tuesday on small field set-ups working on pace spacing and technique.
At the end of Monday's session the club worked on penalty kicks with all the players given one opportunity. With a high success rate all but three players were able to rip the back of the nets. Even Assistant Coach Gary Smith Strength and Conditioning Coach Jamie Heiner and Equipment Manager Carlos Garcia stepped up to the challenge and came through.
The players are also gearing up for their first ESPN2 Primetime Thursday match of the season with all the behind-the-scenes responsibilites that come with a nationally-televised game. On Wednesday each player will do a video ID after practice for the network to use during intros of the broadcast.
