Six Kids Crowned Colorado Rapids Dribble Pass & Score State Champions Wednesday at Invesco Field

DENVER ( - Six kids were crowned Colorado Rapids 2006 Dribble Pass and Score state champions in the final stage of the 2006 competition on Wednesday September 13. The event was held at Invesco Field at Mile High prior to the Colorado Rapids vs. Chicago Fire match.

Twenty-four competitors earned the right to compete in the final competition after capturing top honors at the Local and Sectional levels of the program that began in March. More than 2000 kids ages 6-14 competed in the state-wide competition around Colorado in 2006.

As part of their state champions titles the six first-place finishers got the chance to be recognized in front of the crowd down on the field prior to the Rapids game were presented championship medals from Rapids Managing Director Jeff Plush and also all received free scholarships to the 2007 Colorado Rapids Soccer Academy.

The Colorado Rapids Dribble Pass and Score program is a three-skill competition that includes dribbling through a slalom-style course of flags for speed passing to zones for accuracy and shooting at a regulation size target goal for accuracy. The competition is divided into six separate boys and girls divisions.

8/9 Boys: Chris Key of Boulder
8/9 Girls: Sarah Radzihovsky of Boulder
10/11 Boys: Lars Peterson of Parker
10/11 Girls: Nicole Barbour of Superior
12/14 Boys: Arick Zeigel of Carbondale
12/14 Girls: Andi Tostanoski of Colorado Springs
