Nathan Sturgis finding a rhythm and taking the initiative with increased playing time

Colorado Rapids midfielder Nathan Sturgis following 2-0 win over Chivas USA:

On the importance of having a strong defense:
"It’s really important. Our defense has been playing really well. We’re not giving up goals right now but in order to get a reward for that we need to finish some goals. Tonight we got two and the defense held strong so we got three points which is good."
On whether or not there’s pressure to score because the defense is playing well:
"I think defense is what you build your team off of. We know our defense is playing well and we know that they’re going to keep us in games, so we just have to keep going and keep trying to create chances and try to finish them. In the last couple of games we’ve put some goals away and gotten those results."
On exploiting the holes in the Chivas USA defense:
"I think with Deshorn [Brown], Atiba [Harris] and Edson [Buddle] we’ve got a lot of speed up there. I think Deshorn was causing them problems getting in behind; Atiba was getting in behind. I think with both goals we were able to use that speed to get behind their defense and send in a couple good crosses."
On having momentum at home:
"I think it’s just a culmination of our last several games. We’ve gradually been building off of solid performances. We had two good road games the last two weeks and I think we just built off that. We know we’re at home this week and the next two weeks so we really have to kind of step it up a little bit and initiate the game more and go after the three points."
On his personal performance over the last couple games:
"I think it’s just a combination of several things. One is being healthy and two is getting some consecutive games. I’m able to find a rhythm and also take initiative and get in the box a little more."
